Time-Consuming: Requires extra effort and precision to trim the edges.
Skill-Dependent: More challenging for beginners to achieve a seamless look.

CONSIDERATIONS ON TRIMMING

  • PATTERN MATCHING:
If the wallpaper has a complex or large-scale pattern, precise alignment is crucial, and trimming may be necessary to match patterns perfectly.
  • WALL CONDITIONS:
For uneven walls, untrimmed wallpaper offers more flexibility to adjust on-site.
  • BUDGET & TIME:
If you’re short on time or want to minimize labor, trimmed wallpaper is more practical.

If you’re hiring a professional, consult them on the best option for your specific needs. For DIY projects, trimmed wallpaper is generally the safer choice. Any questions, we are here for you!

Measuring:

We recommend consulting a professional wallpaper hanger, but below are some suggestions for measuring.

GENERAL TIPS FOR MEASURING

  • Round up to the nearest whole inch (in)
  • Use the tallest wall for your height measurement
  • Measure the entirety of your wall, including doors and windows
  • Do NOT include baseboards or molding

HOW TO CALCULATE SQUARE FOOTAGE MANUALLY

Figuring out the number of wallpaper rolls that are needed for a room is a simple process that involves the dimensions of the wall being covered, the roll size and the frequency of the pattern repeat. To begin:

  • First, measure the length of the wall from ceiling to floor. Our wallpapers are sold by the yard, with the standard width of 27" with a minimum of 20 yards per order. Keep in mind that walls are not always completely even, so take a few measurements in different places to make sure the roll will be long enough.
  • Once the length is calculated, measure the width of each wall and add them together. Wallpaper rolls come in a convenient two-foot width, so simply divide the total width by 24 inches to determine the number of rolls needed. Remember to round up.

If a wallpaper border is desired, measure the width of the wall or walls it is being applied to.

It's best to do a dry test run with each new wallpaper roll to make sure the pattern matches exactly. Slight differences in wall construction may require a minor adjustment before the paper is applied to the wall.
